Identification of thermal material parameters for thermo-mechanically coupled material models

Abstract The possibility of accurately identifying thermal material parameters on the basis a simple tension test is presented, using parameter identification framework for thermo-mechanically coupled models full field displacement and temperature measurements. Main objective to show impact model formulation results such an with respect accuracy uniqueness result. To do so, as proof concept, data two different experiments used. One experiment including cooling specimen, due ambient temperature, one without specimen cooling. main constitutive relations basic are summarised (associated non-associated plasticity), whereas both extended so introduce additional thermodynamically consistent scaling dissipated energy. chosen subjected identifications each, either focusing determination parameters. influence predicted energy process investigated showing that specific must be carefully. associated evolution equations used within this work does neither allow unique result, nor any solutions underlying close literature values. In contrast that, stable, locally unique, re-identification values possible boundary problem at hand if equation included in experimental data.
